Chic of the Week

Hi guys, happy Friday!

This week’s outfit of the week is sooo exciting! I’ve been waiting to show you guys what Fabletics sent me! When they reached out to me about a partnership I almost screamed with excitement! Fabletics has always been a brand I’ve loved & thought highly of. I thought about doing their 2 for $24 leggings too many times to count. I couldn’t believe they wanted to work with ME?! But sure enough they sent me two super cute workout outfits. This one is really great for running, & the other is better for activities like yoga. I’m actually going to break up the “reveal” into two posts so you gotta check back next Friday for the yoga outfit!

So I obviously don’t need to give you guys details on where the items are from, but I will link them down below. These items are also from their new collection that launched on February 1st so they are new & unique 🙂 You can buy each piece separately or as an outfit!

Chic of the Week

Happy, happy Friday!

This week’s outfit of the week is part thrifted! The skirt is from Buffalo Exchange & is so flattering. The top is from Target! Imagine that! I like it because it’s thin, but also a layer of warmth for cooler days. It’s already warming up here in AZ & I have mixed feelings about it honestly…. I love summer, but the hot weather just seems to never end! So I’m trying to hold onto the cold weather outfits as long as I can get away with it hahah

In other news, I made a hair appointment to go blonder!! I don’t know if you can even tell in my photos, but I have blonde highlights right now & really like them. I’ve always been curious if blondes really do have more fun, so I’m about to find out 😉

21 THINGS I’VE LEARNED AT 21

Hi guys! I thought this post would be appropriate since I recently turned 21 & that’s kind of a milestone birthday. This next decade is going to be crazy & I look forward to all that it holds. 🙂 Here are some things that I learned in my 21 years of life!

1.) I am super forgiving.

I have the biggest heart & anyone who knows me will agree. It’s hard for me to stay mad at people & I give too many chances to people who may not deserve it. But I’m always just trying to be the nicest person.

2.) Go outside.

Even if it’s just for a second, I promise it will give you a fresh mindset. Whenever I am feeling upset or too stuck on my own life & problems, I go outside. I watch other people living their life & hear everything going on & it just calms me down & helps me realize that my problems are actually not so bad. You are not alone.

3.) Most everyone deserves a second chance.

I’m a firm believer in second chances. I think everyone needs a do-over once in awhile.

4.) Sleep on it.

A good night’s sleep fixes pretty much everything. Things don’t seem so bad the next morning. Whenever I am upset, I usually wake up the next morning with a different perspective & a better mindset about the situation.

5.) Don’t get others involved in your relationship.

I learned this the hard way & unfortunately I don’t think I’m alone. A relationship is between two people & the more people you talk to about your problems, the more people become involved, whether you want them to be or not. Keep things between you & your partner & if you really need someone to talk to or vent to, go to your mom or someone with an unbiased opinion.

6.) Don’t let numbers define you.

You are not defined by numbers. Your weight, your income, your GPA.

7.) Always say “I love you.”

Last year started off tough with my grandpa passing away suddenly & unexpectedly. We were pretty close so it was hard for me to realize I would never see him again or spend another holiday with him. It was also hard to see how sad my mom was. No one wants to see their mom cry! But all of that is to say, always, always, love because you never know when someone’s last day is. I am fortunate to have just talked to my grandpa & we had a good relationship, but it was just a reminder that sometimes the worst thing happens & you don’t want to have to live with resentment or anger along with grief.

8.) Have a “what is this teaching me?” attitude.

Life is hard. But switching your mindset from “why is this happening to me?” to “what is this trying to teach me?” is going to help you get through some tough times with a better attitude.

9.) Do not compare.

I don’t really have much advice for this except just avoid what makes you feel bad about yourself & your life. Whether it be someone on Instagram you need to unfollow or a toxic friend that just causes envy that you need to ditch, just do it. Every little thing helps.

10.) You can’t & won’t please everyone.

This is even harder for me than the comparison one. I am such a people pleaser & I want to fix everything. But I’ve had to learn that I can’t fix every relationship or problem & it’s also not my job. Let it go. Some people just won’t accept you & that’s okay. “You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, & there’s still going to be someone who hates peaches.”

11.) Cheese is expensive.

Reason #1 why I went vegan.

12.) You can’t avoid conflict and confrontation so learn how to handle it with class and confidence.

13.) Pray.

A relationship with God is the most important relationship you can have. Focus on Him & His plan for your life & everything will start to fall in place. Maybe not right away, but trust the timing of your life.

14.) Letting go is hard, but holding on is harder.

That possessive relationship, that draining job, that unfulfilling major, that broken friendship… let it go.

15.) It’s okay to be selfish sometimes.

16.) Slow down.

17.) Tell your parents ‘thank you.’

I am so lucky to have parents that have supported every passion I have ever had & done their best to make my dreams come true. They do so much for me & I am forever thankful. Don’t forget about the people that shaped you into the person you are today.

18.) Drop expectations.

19.) Travel.

I have been fortunate enough to explore most of my country & it is so amazing! Save up your money & travel… as far & wide as you can. Home will always be home, but you’ll be a different person because of your experiences.

20.) Just go for it.

Don’t wait for a “sign” or anything like that. Just do the thing. The hard thing, the scary thing, the thing you’ve always wanted to do. Just go for it!! You will only regret the chances you didn’t take.

21.) Find yourself.

I know this is soooo cliche, but it’s like that for a reason. These past couple of years I have learned so much about myself & figured out who & what really matters in life, I’ve found my passion & I’m finally living it so I feel like I have a purpose. And I’m not saying you have to go on some extravagant hike to “find yourself”. I’m just saying, spend time with yourself. Take a whole day to do what you love. Take a bunch of days to do what you love & just be alone to think. Most of my freshman year of college I spent alone because I didn’t have a solid group of friends, but after I stopped feeling sorry for myself is when things changed. I figured out who I was & what I wanted & I went after it. Now I know myself & what I need to be the “best me”. It’s going to take time, but it is so, so worth it.

Chic of the Week + 12 Things

Happy Friday!

I’ve been off my game lately in terms of blogging! School is taking all my time and energy lol but I’m working on having a daily blogging schedule so I can keep up.

This week’s outfit of the week is one of my favorites! I wore it when I went to The Nutcracker, but I’ve also been able to wear it to work. The dress is actually thrifted, but the style is so in & easy to pair with a sweater & boots in the cooler months. The leather jacket is from sooo long ago! I remember in high school I wanted one so bad because they were super cool. I’ve had a hard time figuring out what to pair it with because I’ve always seen leather jackets as “edgy” haha & that’s not my style! But with this dress it’s cute & chic! The shoes are my most worn pair of shoes ever! If you buy slip-ons, there is no going back.

A quick 12 THINGS because it’s been a minute!

1.) I’m finally 21!! I had the best birthday celebration last weekend & I can’t wait to buy wine whenever I want haha

2.) I got an espresso machine for Christmas!! Seriously the best thing ever. Now I only need three coffees a day instead of five!

3.) I only have 3 semesters of college left!

4.) I am doing a super exciting campaign with… Fabletics!! I can’t wait to share the looks they sent me. SO cute.

5.) I’m also doing a couple other campaigns currently! I am so grateful & excited to be working with all of these brands, but I gotta tell you, deadlines on deadlines! It never ends.

6.) I’ve started meditating every morning & it is the best thing I’ve done for myself! The app is called Simple Habit, & there are a ton of free meditations on there. I never thought I was one for meditation because I am constantly thinking & go, go, go, but that’s why it’s been so great! It forces me to slow down & take time for myself, even if it’s just 5 minutes.

7.) I got a fishy for my birthday! His name is Francisco. He’s a blue beta & I’m already so attached. I might be biased, but I think he’s the cutest fish ever.

8.) I found the best self tanner! It’s St. Tropez tanning mousse. I saw all these bloggers & YouTubers trying it & I was desperate. Kinda pricey, but if you’re anything like me, it will be worth it because you’ll go from a 3 to a generous 7 with the swipe of a mitt hahah

9.) I’m watching The Bachelor this season & wow. I’m obsessed with these random girls falling in love with one guy. It’s so funny. Quality television.

10.) I’m almost done with Grey’s Anatomy! I’ve seriously been watching it since about May hahah I’m going to watch You when I’m done because I’ve heard it’s crazy.

11.) I finally read the book You are a Badass. It was sooo good! The kind of book that made me want to bookmark every page because everything was so motivational.

12.) I am going to Hawaii for spring break!! I am so excited! Ever since going last summer I’ve been itching to go again. One of my favorite places for sure.

Sustainable Living

Hi guys!

Today I decided to write about ways to be more sustainable in your everyday life! Recently I’ve made the commitment to use as many ethical, natural & sustainable products as I can. I feel better if I know that I’m doing my part to make this world a better place! I know before I decided to make this change I was intimidated. I wasn’t sure where to start & I wanted to be PERFECT. But then I remembered it’s about trying! So in no way am I perfect about buying & using only sustainable, natural & ethical products, but I definitely do my best! I’ll link all the items I use down below 🙂

Chic of the Week

Hi guys! I’m back with more ootws!!

I wore this outfit on my first day back to classes on Monday! I decided to layer because it was actually a little bit cold. I’m a huge fan of denim jackets because they are easy to layer & lightweight, plus add a cute touch to any look! I paired it with a white sweater & dark, distressed jeans. I got pink Vans for Christmas & I’m so in love! They are the cutest thing. I’m channeling my inner skater girl 😉 hahah jk! But fun fact! When my brother & I were younger we would ride our scooters on our back patio & “jump” from the patio to the gravel. We thought we were SO cool. I can imagine if 8-year old-skater me would’ve had style, it would’ve looked a little something like this!!

But yeah, I started school again this week & I want to CRY. School just stresses me out so much, but in 2019 we are staying happy, positive & stress free 🙂 And good luck to all my other college friends starting classes again!

The Year of Just Realizing Stuff

Now that I’m ready to write again, I want to reflect on 2018.

2018 was hard for me. It started out rough & never really got better. Sure, there were some highs, but a lot of lows. I experienced a lot of heart break, sadness, loss, & change.

In January, just days after my 20th birthday, my grandfather died. It made me realize that life is short & to never take anything for granted, especially the people in your life. Love, forgive & cherish the time you have with your friends & family.

A lot of drama & pettiness filled my life with some of the people closest to me. I drew away from people that cared about me in fear of being let down like I already had. I learned a lot about friendship. It made me realize that life is too short to worry about what other people think & let them dictate your thoughts & actions. And that REAL friends will be supportive & respectful, while also wanting the very best for you. Cut out the toxic people, people!

Last year, my relationship struggled. Long distance finally got the best of us & our differences started to show. I fought so hard to keep the relationship alive, but felt like a failure whenever my attempts to save the relationship failed. I so badly wanted to “save” the relationship because we had been together for so long. We talked about our future together, made plans to move in together, have a family. I so desperately wanted it to work out because he was my best friend. I felt safe with him. He was home to me. He was my first love, my first everything & I didn’t want to give that up. I didn’t want to lose him, because I knew that meant losing everything else.

But I realized that I can’t save people, I can’t change people. I can’t have what isn’t mine to keep.

In July, I made the decision to break up with my boyfriend of 3 & 1/2 years. It was the hardest thing I had ever had to do because I hate hurting people. The last thing I want to do is make people sad & upset. I’m such a people pleaser. (Leaving that in 2018). I felt like I was not only letting someone down, but letting down the one person I never thought I would hurt. My best friend & love.

Although it was hard, it made me realize that letting go is so much easier than holding on.

What followed was a lot of sadness. I had to get used to a new normal. A new life without my person. I had never felt more alone.

Seven months later & it’s still hard. But I’ve learned so much about myself & what I want & need.

I grew up a LOT in 2018.

I got a big girl job that I absolutely love. It has made me realize giving back is truly my passion & whatever I end up doing in life needs to involve helping others because that is where I feel joy & fulfillment.

I grew closer to new people & let myself be vulnerable & honest. I forgave people from my past that let me down, & I let them back in with caution.

I started reading more self-help books & rediscovering my love for words & their power to heal.

I traveled out of the country & saw some beautiful places. It reminded me how amazing our planet is & inspired me to do everything I can to make this earth a better place.

I got some big brand deals for my blog & watched my Instagram grow. I made some amazing Internet friends that made me so grateful for the blogging community. I also started a YouTube channel to highlight my travels, which I hope to be doing more of in 2019!! I realized that the Internet can be a really positive place, but it’s all about what you make it.

While 2018 was a year of sadness, let-downs, loss, & change, it was also a year of GROWTH. And I plan to take that into the new year with me & grow in every aspect of my life. (Except for height. I will be 5 foot nothing forever.)

And for those of you who are also experiencing a huge amount of  sadness, change, hardship, whatever it may be, just know that you will get through it & you’ll be a better person because of it. It will take a long time to heal & you may never fully be the same, but everything happens for a reason.

In the wise words of Kylie Jenner, 2018 was “the year of just realizing stuff.”

Here’s to a better 2019.

with love,

jazz

Chic of the Week

This is what “fall” in Phoenix looks like! Shorts & a sweater lol. But I’m not complaining!

I’ve talked about all of the pieces in this look before. The sweater is so soft & warm. I got it at H&M awhile ago, but they honestly have the best basic pieces! These shorts are pretty much the only denim shorts I own which is crazy considering I live somewhere where shorts weather is year around! The shoes are so cute & add a perfect pop of color to any outfit. I’ve linked similar items down below 🙂

The place where this pic was taken is the cutest place ever & it’s in Scottsdale!! I’m honestly planning to write a big post about all of the cute, fun things to do in Phoenix/Arizona because this is my home state & I honestly love it sooo much. I feel like people hate on AZ, but it’s honestly perfect in my eyes & I want others to see it too!! There’s more to do here than you think! Anyway, that will probably go up next year (so crazy to say, but we’re like 2 months away from 2019).

I am actually going to be taking a few weeks off from blogging because it’s the end of the semester & I’m going crazy lol. There is sooo much to do & I’m in a constant state of stress & my life is a mess. SO wish me luck on finals & I’ll see you guys in a few weeks!!

Pumpkin Seed Recipe

Hi guys!

We finally have a fall recipe to enjoy!! I carved a pumpkin a couple of weeks ago, & posted about it, but I finally made the pumpkin seeds. I found this recipe via Pinterest & they are so yummy!!

Ingredients: Pumpkin seeds

1 tsp Cinnamon

1/8 tsp Cloves

1/4 tsp Nutmeg

2 tbsp Sugar

1 tsp Butter or olive oil

Prep time: 10 minutes

Serves: 4

I left out the cloves because I didn’t have any, & I used oil instead of butter because I didn’t have any vegan butter. But they turned out great! I baked mine at 300 degrees for 60 minutes. They are the perfect fall snack 🙂

Chic of the Week + 12 Things

Hi guys! Happy November!!

This week’s outfit of the week is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. I got it at Target (SURPRISE) for work, but have ended up wearing it to class, events, night out… what can an LBD not do?? The shoes are my famous Tuccis lol so basically my whole outfit is from Target, but I don’t think anyone is surprised by that.

A little 12 Things since it’s a new month & this post is so short…

1.) It’s finally cooling off in Phoenix. YAY!

2.) I went to the library last week & got a library card for the first time since I was little. It’s been my goal to read more because I’m just really trying to be a more zen person & there are so many good books out there! I used to love reading as a kid, so I’m gonna make an effort to read instead of Netflix all the time.

3.) I carved my first pumpkin ever this year! I made a kitty. You can find the post here.

4.) This year for Halloween I was a trophy wife & I wore a fake ring & yet so many people thought it was real hahaha yeah I’m NOT engaged.

5.) I tried aerial yoga for the first time a month ago! It was so fun, but takes lots of coordination.

6.)  I also went to my first NFL game a couple of months ago. It was so fun!! Football is actually my favorite sport to watch & I got to see my favorite team play. (Go Seahawks!) They won. 🙂

7.) It is officially Christmas season. Don’t hate, just turn on Christmas music & be happy.

8.) The one thing I really, really want for Christmas is an espresso machine. Because I am not afraid to admit that caffeine has lost it’s affect, so we are moving onto bigger drugs – shots of espresso.

9.) I’m going to visit my bestie up north next weekend & to say I’m excited is an understatement! I haven’t seen her in so long & it’s actually cold where she is so I’m just excited to wear a coat & be cute.

10.) I turn 21 in January!! It doesn’t seem real honestly. I feel 12.

11.) Yesterday was World Vegan Day, meaning it’s been a year since I decided to go vegan! I am planning on writing a post all about it, but it has been one of the best things I’ve done for myself.

12.) I’m currently listening to Justin Bieber’s Christmas album, baking pumpkin seeds, & drinking pumpkin spice. Life is good.
