I just got back from my spring break yesterday! I went to California for the first half with some friends & then spent the weekend in Flagstaff with Jacob.
Here is a little video documenting my trip! We went to Huntington Beach & I had never been to that part of California, but I loved it! This is also my first official YouTube video so I have no more excuses… right?
I apologize for any glitches or if you think it’s low quality… I’m new to this & learning along the way!
You can also find the video on my YouTube channel: Jaslyn Ravenscraft.
What are your spring break plans? Let me know in the comments!
I just took a trip for my Spring Break & it made me so happy! I actually love car rides & find them really relaxing. I always need a good playlist though to get me through. I do a lot of long travels when I go & see Jacob, so I’ve made a road trip playlist that I update often with songs I’m loving. I thought I would share my current one with you guys!
On this link you can only play a demo of the songs, but I hope it inspires your own playlist! I love Spotify because it has almost all artists on it & you can easily browse & customize what you listen to. You can also listen off-line, which is a huge plus, especially when you’re traveling!
What are some of your favorite songs right now? I am always looking for new music, so DM me or leave a comment!
Spring break is almost here! And if you’re anything like me, you’ve been waiting for it since school started haha. I’ve made a brief packing list of things I bring for a beach vacation because I’ll be spending my break in California!
cover-up for swimsuit
towel *It might be easier to just borrow a towel at the hotel or wherever you’re staying, but if you have enough room to pack one why not!
I hope this helps you guys figure out what to bring! What is your favorite way to spend time on the beach? Let me know in the comments!
Fall Break was soooo good! It was honestly just what I needed. I went up north to visit Jacob & actually have some cool weather. I mentioned it in my Chic of the Week last week, & I said that if I did enough cool stuff I would do a Fall Break recap on here so I made it a priority to do stuff! Not that I didn’t do a lot of laying around & watching The Office. (That show never gets old…) I also ate my body weight in candy corn, but hey, it’s October so I think there are no excuses…
On Saturday, Jacob & I went to the Grand Canyon. It’s only a few hours from where he lives so it was the perfect little road trip. He had never seen it before & you can’t live in Arizona & not see it! He thought the “big hole in the ground” was pretty neat. We found the perfect spot to take some pics that wasn’t overly crowded with tourists. Although Jake gave me a heart attack climbing the rocks! I would consider myself adventurous, but after hanging out with him, I think I take that back… Anyway, a super nice tourist took the pic of us overlooking the canyon together & it’s about to become my new favorite picture of us 🙂 After exploring the edge of the cliff (somewhat unwillingly on my part) we walked around for a bit & then headed out. For dinner that night, we went to a super cute 50’s-inspired diner. Made me want to go back in time… the food was super good, but the atmosphere was even better!
On Sunday, I hung out with my best friend from high school! Our friendship is a whole blog post in itself. But we always do the most extra stuff together! She’s always down to adventure & try new things & I love it. She took me to the local’s favorite coffee shop & then we went to the farmer’s market & walked around town. There were so many cute boutiques, I could’ve gone broke. I did buy one thing… I’ll do a Chic of the Week to show you guys! We also found a little pumpkin patch & took some pics & even bought little pumpkins to decorate! (Expect an easy, DIY fall idea on the blog soon!) Super successful Sunday 🙂
Jacob had class on Monday so I just hung out & blogged! It was a super chill break, but it was spent with people I love & I think that’s the best way to spend time. I didn’t want to leave, but unfortunately, I had school the rest of the week! But I get to see them both soon for Halloween. And eat more candy corn…
Hope you guys enjoyed this post! I love talking about my trips & giving you guys a look inside what I like to do for fun.
I’m finally sharing my Nashville stories! My life has been a whirlwind lately, but I officially start classes today So hopefully I’ll get into a routine here soon.
Anyway, when I found out we would be near Nashville on our roadtrip, I was like I HAVE TO GO. It has somehow become a super hip place. I feel like it just used to be about country music! I like country music, but let’s be honest, I like visiting Insta-famous places more…
I hopped on Pinterest right away & browsed tons of articles highlighting the best things to do in Nashville. I also came across a lot of blogs talking about the “best Instagram spots” & I was like wow I’m going to love this place. Yeah, I loved it.
We got to spend an entire day in Nashville & I got to see everything I wanted, so that was nice because I was a little frustrated after Chicago! It was also not as hard to find parking. But I would definitely love to go back! I think it’s one of those places that always has something new to try.
The first place I had to see was Draper James, Reese Witherspoon’s store. Wow. So cute & aesthetically pleasing. They were giving out free sweet tea & had so many cute things for sale. The best part was the wall outside the store. It’s on the list of “best Instagram spots” & it was obvious because there were so many other people outside just trying to get a picture in front of the somehow famous blue & white striped wall. And right across from that wall is the “I Believe in Nashville” mural. (See top!)
Another cute place that I wanted to snap a pic of was Emma’s Flower Shop because it’s a pink building. It was already closed by the time we got there, but I did get a few pictures. It was hard to get a good angle because the main road is right by it, so don’t be fooled by those fancy pictures on Pinterest because it would definitely take some special skill & fancy camera to capture a really good shot.
On the same side of town as Emma’s, is the Parthenon replica. That was honestly probably one of my favorite things there because I felt like I was actually in Greece!
After tons of walking, we took a coffee break at Three Brothers Coffee & it had a really relaxed vibe & even better matcha!
The other thing I had to see was the wing mural. I think there’s another one in another big city, but it’s probably the most well known spot for a picture. There was a line for almost every place we went to get a picture so be prepared to wait & then pose in front of people. But the waits weren’t that long & the pictures turned out so it’s worth it!
The only thing I didn’t get to see was Amelias Flower Truck. I’m sure you’ve seen pictures of it on Pinterest or even Instagram. It’s basically a traveling flower shop! It was one of the top things I wanted to see, but the weather was kinda bad so we missed it. But hey, like I’ve said before, a great reason to go back!
I hope I’ll be able to talk to you guys more! And let me know what kinds of things you want to see because I don’t have anymore cool travel posts unfortunately
I’ve been crazy busy lately trying to get everything ready for school, plus packing up my stuff to move. I’m excited for another semester, but let’s be honest, summer went way too quick. I was gone for two weeks visiting family & exploring some new places, but now I’m back to adulting & I just want to escape again!
Chicago was our first stop & I fell in love, despite how stressful it was. I wish I could say I saw everything I wanted & got to explore every inch of the city with time to spare, but I would be lying. We only had a few hours to spend downtown. Parking alone took us an hour because the traffic is so bad. On the plus side, I did get to see some things as we were driving the streets in search of a place to park. Pro tip: Get a hotel downtown & either walk or Uber to your destination. That’s what we did the first time I visited & it worked a lot better & saved us time.
The only thing I really had to see was the Wrigley Building clock. At the time, I didn’t even know what it was called, I just knew I had to get a picture of it because I saw a picture on Pinterest that was so cool I needed my own version. (Ya know how I roll…)
I also wanted a selfie at the famous reflecting bean statue so we walked there, but it was super hot, humid & crowded. Not my idea of the perfect Insta shot, but I got a few good pics & an excuse to go back!
Although I didn’t get to see everything I wanted, I got to spend time in a new place & create new memories ( not all good… ). I did get some good pictures & lots of reasons to go back & visit. I even kinda want to move there now. But I say that about almost every place I visit…
What are your favorite places to visit in Chicago? Let me know in the comments or on social media because I definitely plan on going back someday soon…
P.S. Also. Guys. Have you tried true Chicago deep dish pizza? If you haven’t, you need to. This was my first experience & it was sooo good. There were layers upon layers of cheesy goodness.
Traveling is a lot of fun, but there is so much to think about when packing. Not only do you have to think ahead for what you’ll need at your destination, but you have to think about what you’ll need to get there! Plane rides or cross country road trips; however you choose to travel you’ll need stuff for comfort & entertainment. Below I’ve outlined the things I can’t travel without:
reusable water bottle
This list is a basic outline, so feel free to adjust it as needed. And don’t forget to check out air travel regulations because you may not be able to take certain things. Remember to enjoy your trip & don’t stress out about packing too much!
I know I have so many posts talking about essentials, but I love to read about the newest seasonal beauty products, or tips for make bag packing quicker, so I thought y’all probably do to. And I’ve got vacation on my mind so I’ve decided to dedicate a few posts to talking about staycations.
As much as I love traveling to new places, there’s something fun about exploring your own state & finding new things to do. Scottsdale has become one of my favorite destinations for a weekend get-away. From Old Town Scottsdale with art galleries & cute shops, to the hub of up-scale malls, there is always something to do.
But I will have to admit my favorite part of staycations is the packing. It’s so much easier to pack for 3 days than 3 weeks! Just throw in a bathing suit & sun hat & you’re set. Below, I’ve outlined the items I can’t live without on any given weekend away:
I hope this helps y’all when packing! Let me know what essentials you pack in your weekend bag in the comments or on social media!
Today is the Monday-est Monday ever, if that’s even a thing! I’m still in vacation mode. But speaking of vacation, below are some pictures from my stay at Scottsdale Camelback Resort this weekend. I planned on taking the time to shoot more, but I honestly got so caught up in actually being present, that I forgot all about it. I think it’s important to take time to relax & not focus on work, & vacation is the perfect time to do that.
I wish I had more to share, but honestly it felt good to not be so focused on finding the next ‘grammable thing & just be able to relax. Keep an eye out for more pics of my whereabouts…
