Productivity Tips

I’m going to be starting a series all about productivity & organization since I’m back in school now & that’s all that’s on my mind! For all you college students, this will be super helpful & even those who are working, there are always new ways to make your Monday-Friday a little easier! I’ve adopted all these tips over time & these are the things that work best for me day-to-day.

1.) Do as much as you can the night before

I set out my outfit for the next day, pack my lunch & pack my backpack all before I go to sleep. Some nights I just want to crawl into bed & not even think about the next day, but it’s easier for me to sleep knowing I’m somewhat prepared for the following day!

2.) Wake up early

All you non-morning people are probably like “really Jaslyn??!!” but I swear it’s the best thing for you. I get my workout in first thing, then get ready & have breakfast all before most people have even gotten out of bed. Now this does require going to bed earlier since sleep is the most important thing in my book because you can’t get stuff done when you’re sleepy! Slowly you will create a habit of rising with the sun (or sometimes even before) & going to bed before midnight & you’ll feel a lot better.

3.) Look at your planner before you look at your phone

I set my phone on my desk to charge overnight & don’t even look at it until the next morning after I’ve taken out my planner & written my top 3 to-do’s for the day. Which leads me to the next tip…

4.) Make a “Top 3” for the day

Write down three things you must accomplish that day. The rest can wait for tomorrow or the weekend.

5.) Be organized

I cannot stress this enough! Having a clean work space & a planner with all the day’s work in it, makes getting stuff done so much easier!

6.) Switch up your work environment

Coffee shops are always a good idea. Get together with others to study or get stuff done because just like with working out, having a friend can make it all easier (or at least more fun!)

7.) Motivate yourself

My personal favorite for studying & chores is an iced chai & Disney music.

8.) Break things down

Big tasks can seem really daunting, so break them down throughout the week.

9.) Set a timer

Set a timer for an hour & do as much as you can. Then take a break & do it again!

10.) Silence your phone

This one is tough, not gonna lie. But the constant dinging makes me want to respond to that text & then see that Instagram notification & then scroll through the Explore page… you get the idea! If it’s easier, just put your phone out of sight & then you won’t even be tempted.

Being productive is always a good feeling. It will take time to get rid of bad habits such as distractions & procrastination, but you’ll get the hang of it! I still have bad days where I just want to sleep & cry, but balance in life is everything… Don’t strive for perfection; just strive for better than yesterday.

What kinds of productivity tips do you guys have? I would love to know in the comments or on social media!

P.S. How often do you all want me to post? During the summer I was able to keep up with twice a week, but I’m starting to think maybe once a week, plus an OOTW? Let me know 🙂

Happy weekend!

This week felt kinda short because of the three day weekend so that was nice! School is still stressful, but I survived another week so.

This week’s outfit of the week is super casual (I feel like I say that all the time?? But I like to wear comfortable stuff because it makes me feel so much better.) This is basically my day-to-day look, especially during the week when I have class. If I’m not in a look like this, I’m in a dress because they are so easy.

I’ve talked about these pants before, but they are from Old Navy & have a high waist which is the only kind of pant I like to wear. No butt bearing for me please! I don’t remember where I got the top from because I’ve had it for awhile now… I didn’t use to like stripes because I thought I didn’t look good in them, but now I think they’re pretty cute & flattering. My shoes are Steve Madden & I want to get more like them because I’m loving the slip-on style.

I’m about to go do some retail therapy so you guys will hopefully start to see some new things here soon…

This wall is about to be the background for every single one of my pictures… it’s right by my apartment & matches my theme. Win-win.

Happy three day weekend!

I know this post is a day late & I’m so sorry! I feel like I’ve literally been running around this week to get everything done. Ever since school started I feel like all I talk about is how busy I am! But it’s true. College is a crazy, fun time.

As for my outfit, it’s the same pic that’s in my bio! (Go check it out under “About”) I thought I might as well give you guys the details since it’s there all the time!

The skirt is from Forever21 & the shirt is from Old Navy. The top is an extra-large because I’m currently loving big shirts! I know I’m a little late to that trend, but they are so comfy & easy to style. I forget where my tote & hat are from, but I know you can get similar stuff at Target!

Also, throwback to when I had long hair! Recently I’ve been missing my long hair & I think about growing it back out at least a few times a week! It could be because I don’t know a lot of short hair hairstyles so if any of you guys have cute short hair ideas please let me know! I’m having the hair woes :/

Back-to-School Supplies Haul

Probably one of my favorite parts about going back to school is shopping for new school supplies (other than buying new clothes which ~hopefully~ I’ll have a post about soon). I love the smell of new pencils & blank paper just waiting to be written all over & smeared with tears (at least in my case!!) It’s so fun to personalize your stuff & pick out your favorite notebook colors. I don’t know about you guys, but it truly gives me more motivation to study when my stuff looks cute! Ya know, so you can take a studious snapchat & then continue to procrastinate… 😉 Anyway, every school is different & I’m in college so my school supplies is honestly limited because a lot of my work is done on my laptop. But I will give you guys a list of what I do have in case you need some inspiration/motivation!

  • 3 ring binder, with dividers & folder
  • 2 spiral notebooks
  • No. 2 pencils
  • black pen
  • highlighters
  • sticky notes
  • big eraser
  • headphones
  • laptop

What’s your favorite part about going back to school? Let me know in the comments or on social media! Have a good year & remember, your GPA does not define you 🙂

Hey guys! Happy Friday!

This week’s outfit is a light red color (the tag says “berry coral”, but I have no idea what that means) dress. It’s very light & an easy way to look like you put effort into your outfit when really, you crawled out of bed 5 minutes ago…I got it at Target about a month ago. No shame; Target actually has some really cute stuff! I paired it with my most versatile shoe yet for walking around Nashville. You can see more pics from my trip here!

It was another busy week for me. The homework never ends!! But this year I’m trying to focus on having a positive attitude & managing my stress & I think we can all agree we need to work on those!

Nashville Recap

I’m finally sharing my Nashville stories! My life has been a whirlwind lately, but I officially start classes today :/ So hopefully I’ll get into a routine here soon.

Anyway, when I found out we would be near Nashville on our roadtrip, I was like I HAVE TO GO. It has somehow become a super hip place. I feel like it just used to be about country music! I like country music, but let’s be honest, I like visiting Insta-famous places more…

I hopped on Pinterest right away & browsed tons of articles highlighting the best things to do in Nashville. I also came across a lot of blogs talking about the “best Instagram spots” & I was like wow I’m going to love this place. Yeah, I loved it.

We got to spend an entire day in Nashville & I got to see everything I wanted, so that was nice because I was a little frustrated after Chicago! It was also not as hard to find parking. But I would definitely love to go back! I think it’s one of those places that always has something new to try.

The first place I had to see was Draper James, Reese Witherspoon’s store. Wow. So cute & aesthetically pleasing. They were giving out free sweet tea & had so many cute things for sale. The best part was the wall outside the store. It’s on the list of “best Instagram spots” & it was obvious because there were so many other people outside just trying to get a picture in front of the somehow famous blue & white striped wall. And right across from that wall is the “I Believe in Nashville” mural. (See top!)

Another cute place that I wanted to snap a pic of was Emma’s Flower Shop because it’s a pink building. It was already closed by the time we got there, but I did get a few pictures. It was hard to get a good angle because the main road is right by it, so don’t be fooled by those fancy pictures on Pinterest because it would definitely take some special skill & fancy camera to capture a really good shot.

I really, really, really want a pink house now…

On the same side of town as Emma’s, is the Parthenon replica. That was honestly probably one of my favorite things there because I felt like I was actually in Greece!

After tons of walking, we took a coffee break at Three Brothers Coffee & it had a really relaxed vibe & even better matcha!

The other thing I had to see was the wing mural. I think there’s another one in another big city, but it’s probably the most well known spot for a picture. There was a line for almost every place we went to get a picture so be prepared to wait & then pose in front of people. But the waits weren’t that long & the pictures turned out so it’s worth it!

The only thing I didn’t get to see was Amelias Flower Truck. I’m sure you’ve seen pictures of it on Pinterest or even Instagram. It’s basically a traveling flower shop! It was one of the top things I wanted to see, but the weather was kinda bad so we missed it. But hey, like I’ve said before, a great reason to go back!

I hope I’ll be able to talk to you guys more! And let me know what kinds of things you want to see because I don’t have anymore cool travel posts unfortunately :/

OOTW

It’s Friday!

Today’s outfit of the week is another look from vacation. I like to call it my “travel outfit” because it’s super comfy for long car rides, but can be turned into something casual for stops or last minute family visits. I don’t know about you guys, but when I travel I want an outfit that is comfortable, but that I can also turn into something nice because changing in the car is hard!

This mural is on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. There was a tunnel filled with positive graffiti & art that you could walk through. I thought it was a pretty cool idea…

I’ve been slacking on the blogging & posting because I literally feel like I’ve been running these past two weeks to get everything done. But I’m all moved into my apartment & it’s slowly coming together. My roommates already feel like family & we have so much fun together, I honestly forget to post on Instagram & check my blog. But I’ll focus more, I promise 😉

I have also been trying to figure out future posts & get them ready to go because homework will soon consume my life… I want to keep the posts steady & relevant so please, please let me know what you like or want to see more of! I got a lot of positive feedback on my last OOTW, & that’s what makes it all worth it. 🙂 So feel free to comment or DM me because I would love to chat & know what you think!

Happy Friday!

This week’s outfit of the week is an ultra comfy, but stylish ensemble. I paired a soft off-the-shoulder top with soft denim shorts from Forever21 & of course, the sandals I can’t live without. Some sunnies completed the look. I’ve mentioned all of these items in past OOTW’s, but they are very versatile items & let’s be honest, I can’t afford new clothes every week (although I wish). And since I assume most of you also can’t afford a mall trip every week as well, try taking the same items & adding a new set of jewelry or pair of shoes to create something completely different & unique. I’m kinda into the capsule wardrobe recently…

In other news, I put up my first blog post from vacation! I had a wonderful time & I can’t wait to share more with you all, but I’m focused on moving currently! I also can’t wait to decorate my new apartment & give you all a tour… but that will come much later. For now, go check out my Chicago post & let me know what you think!

These pictures were taken near the Cincinnati Bridge in Ohio. It was so hot & humid that we decided to skip the city & camp out in Starbucks!

Chicago Recap

Hello all!

I’ve been crazy busy lately trying to get everything ready for school, plus packing up my stuff to move. I’m excited for another semester, but let’s be honest, summer went way too quick. I was gone for two weeks visiting family & exploring some new places, but now I’m back to adulting & I just want to escape again!

Chicago was our first stop & I fell in love, despite how stressful it was. I wish I could say I saw everything I wanted & got to explore every inch of the city with time to spare, but I would be lying. We only had a few hours to spend downtown. Parking alone took us an hour because the traffic is so bad. On the plus side, I did get to see some things as we were driving the streets in search of a place to park. Pro tip: Get a hotel downtown & either walk or Uber to your destination. That’s what we did the first time I visited & it worked a lot better & saved us time.

River Walk

The only thing I really had to see was the Wrigley Building clock. At the time, I didn’t even know what it was called, I just knew I had to get a picture of it because I saw a picture on Pinterest that was so cool I needed my own version. (Ya know how I roll…)

I also wanted a selfie at the famous reflecting bean statue so we walked there, but it was super hot, humid & crowded. Not my idea of the perfect Insta shot, but I got a few good pics & an excuse to go back!

Just me & my mum being typical Windy City tourists…

Cloud Gate sculpture, better known as the Reflective Bean in Millennium Park.

Although I didn’t get to see everything I wanted, I got to spend time in a new place & create new memories ( not all good… ). I did get some good pictures & lots of reasons to go back & visit. I even kinda want to move there now. But I say that about almost every place I visit…

This is the signature pose that I do in front of anything with significance.

What are your favorite places to visit in Chicago? Let me know in the comments or on social media because I definitely plan on going back someday soon…

P.S. Also. Guys. Have you tried true Chicago deep dish pizza? If you haven’t, you need to. This was my first experience & it was sooo good. There were layers upon layers of cheesy goodness.

OOTW

For this week’s outfit, I paired a light pink bodysuit from Forever21 with shorts from H&M that I’ve talked about a bunch because I actually love them. I wasn’t sure how to feel about the bodysuit trend, but this one is super comfy & you don’t have to worry about it becoming untucked (idk how to describe it) from your shorts, like you would a t-shirt or tank. Instead of  a bodysuit, you could even wear a one piece with shorts for the beach or beginning-of-the- school-year pool parties. I opted for white Keds because I was exploring the Windy City (expect a blog post with lots of pics!!), but I think sneakers are the best shoe for this look. But feel free to play around with it! That’s why I love fashion; there are no rules.

Have a great weekend & don’t forget to read my last post raving about my favorite planners!
