Pink Hot Chocolate

As you probably already guessed, this was a Pinterest idea 🙂 When I was home for Christmas I was looking for new things to try in the kitchen & this one actually turned out. It is super easy to make & aesthetically pleasing, which counts for a lot in my opinion. It would be perfect for Galentines day 😉

Ingredients: White chocolate hot cocoa mix

Red food coloring

Milk or water

Whip cream & sprinkles (optional)

Prep time: 5 min.

Serves: 1

In a mug, pour in 2 tablespoons of white hot cocoa mix. In a separate mug or bowl, heat up water or milk (depending on how creamy you want it) for about 2 1/2 minutes. Pour hot liquid into cocoa mix mug & stir. Put in about 2 drops or red food coloring to get the pink color. Finish off with whip cream & sprinkles.

I’m going to admit that it wasn’t as flavorful as regular hot chocolate, but it still tasted good & was super cute. If you can’t find white hot cocoa mix, you can make it from scratch following this recipe.

Chic of the Week

Happy Friday!

Yesterday I cerebrated my 20th BIRTHDAY with some of my friends & let me just say… I feel old. JK. But still, it’s kinda crazy to think about… like TWENTY??!!

All of that intro is to say, I had to have a cool outfit for the party so I pulled out a new piece that I got a few months ago on one of my various late-night online shopping sprees. Thankfully, I chose to go to Forever21 so the damage wasn’t horrible. But still. Did I need the stuff? No.

The velvet bodysuit is from Forever21 in a size small, but I definitely could’ve been better off with an XS. I’ve noticed their bodysuits run pretty big, so I would always size down at least a size. Also, you can’t wear a bra with it… so keep that in mind my ladies…. The denim skirt and shoes are also from Forever21. I got the skirt awhile back, but you can find details on the shoes here. I got the leather jacket as a gift a few years ago when they were really popular, but it’s perfect for throwing over my shoulder for a night out!

2018 Resolutions

Hey guys!! I’m backkkk.

I know I didn’t post a Chic of the Week on Friday, but it was a day full of errands & unpacking & getting stuff done, so time just got away from me. One of my new year’s resolutions is to plan ahead more. I feel like I’ve missed posting sometimes just because I’m super busy, but no excuses! Stuff will always come up, but I want to be better at not skipping.

Anyways, this post is going to be a resolutions post. I know; so typical for this time. But I actually love the start of a new year, & the chance to start over new with everything. This is the perfect time to cleanse every part of your life & get ready to take on another 365 days!! I made a list of a few personal goals I want to accomplish & then a separate list of goals for this blog. I hope this post is inspiring, but most of all, it’s going to keep me accountable!

Resolutions 2018 

  • Eat vegan + try a new recipe once a month

I actually started eating vegan a few months ago, but I didn’t want to tell anyone until I knew I could stick with it. But at this point I love it!! And I really want to make time for all the Pinterest recipes I’ve saved haha.

  • Step out of my comfort zone!!

I have a tendency to do what I know & not reach out or try new things, especially alone.  But I really want to get more comfortable with doing new things & talking to new people.

  • Do more good

I recently cleared out my wallet of all its change & I think I’m going to donate it. I already volunteer a few times a year, but I want to give more because it feels good to do good 🙂

  • Go to church more

This is a tricky one because I usually want to sleep in on Sunday mornings, but I feel so much better after I’ve gone to church & surrounded myself with like-minded people. My faith is so important to me & I need to make time for it.

  • Do more yoga

Not only for the health benefits, but for my mentality. As I start a new semester today, there are many unknowns & stress that I know is to come, but I want to work on managing it all without having a breakdown every month.

  • Save money to travel

I really, really just want to go see so many places. I’ve been blessed to see most of the country, but as with stepping out of my comfort zone, I want to go to a new place I’ve never been before & just experience something different. I wanted to travel this year, & I might do some, but I really want to save up for someplace crazy 🙂

2017 was an amazing year, especially because I started this blog! I know I say it all the time, but I have been so much happier since I’m finally doing what I love. I hope 2018 is even better! Thanks so much for following along, & as always, let me know what you wanna see 🙂

Chocolate Powder Puff Cookies

I feel like the only thing I’ve done during break is bake… but I’m not complaining! With that being said, I have some new recipes to share with you guys.

I found this recipe on Pinterest (per usual) & it is super easy to make. I always pin these super fancy recipes, but when it comes down to it, I would rather just make cookies out of a box & not have to spend a ton on ingredients I’ll use maybe once. So for those of you who also have more motivation when you’re on the couch & not in the kitchen, this recipe is for you. It looks good & tastes good, but doesn’t require much.

Ingredients:  one sheet pie crust that makes a 9-inch pie, thawed

about 15 chocolate kisses

about 3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar, for dredging

Prep time: 45 minutes

Serves: 15

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. I always forget to do this & then my recipe is done, but I have to wait around for the oven, so I would suggest doing this first thing. Then spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.

On a floured surface, place the pie crust & roll it out. Using a pizza cutter, cut it into about 16 slices. (little triangles) Place a chocolate kiss in the center of each section. Then fold the pie crust over the kiss to cover it fully. Place all kisses on baking sheet & bake for 15 to 17 minutes, or until the crust is set. The bottoms may be a little brown, but that’s okay. Let them cool and then roll them in confectioners sugar. Eat right away or save for later!!

Chic of the Week

GUYS!! Christmas is in 2 days!! I’m so excited. My family always has a huge brunch on Christmas morning & then we spend all day opening presents (which I don’t love, but I’m not going to complain because bah-humbug) & then I usually get to spend some time with Jacob & his family & give & receive even more. But even though I love the food & the gifts & the time with family, I also take a step back & remember the true reason for the season: Jesus. Without Him, I wouldn’t be half the woman I am today. I’m not going to get preachy or anything, but He’s pretty awesome, so don’t forget to take time out of all the festivities to count your blessings.

Alright, now for the real reason for this post: my Chic of the Week. The top is a brand called Joe Fresh & I got it a long time ago, but I wear it all the time & I’m telling you now, invest in a white sweater. You’ll wear it all the time. The pants are LC Lauren Conrad (you guys can probably tell by now, but I have like, 3 pairs of pants). But my favorite part of this look is the shoes. I got them last week at Charlotte Russe because I walked past the store & saw they were having a half off sale, & then I saw the boots & had to get them. Even though they are pink, they’re a very versatile color & style. I will link them here, because you need them.

2017 Wrapping Theme

Hey guys!!

I feel like it’s been awhile, but it’s only been a week… I don’t know if you noticed, but I didn’t have a Chic of the Week on Friday because I was up north visiting Jacob & just enjoying my time up there so my bad :/ but I have a new piece to show this week, so make sure to check back Friday 😉

Today’s post is all about my wrapping theme this year. And yes, every year I use a new wrapping paper because why not?? Last year I did the old-fashioned look with brown paper & it looked very classy, but this year I wanted to be more fun! My mom always goes & stocks up on wrapping at end of Christmas sales so it comes in handy a year later when I’m trying to jazz up my presents (see what I did there lol).

I am actually not too bad at wrapping, but I know to some people it’s like trying to make origami. But don’t worry; you can still make things look good in bags! Just color coordinate those cheap paper bags that are like $1 at the store & throw in some colorful tissue paper with a personalized note & BANG. It looks like you know what you’re doing.

But if you want to get fancy & actually try to wrap, you’ll just need scissors, tape, a sharpie, Christmasy wrapping paper, & a bow is optional. I won’t walk you through how to actually wrap because I’m just not that advanced. That’s what YouTube is for. But I hope this was inspirational & all your gifts are Instagrammable 😉

I know this has nothing to do with this post, but something I really wanna know: Do you or your family have a theme tree or is it just a bunch of different ornaments that have some sort of meaning?? Let me know in the comments or DM me on social media because I just have to know. My family doesn’t do a theme tree & I can’t decide what kind of tree I want to have when I have my own house. Prettty or full of memories? The struggle is real.



Why I love yoga & you should too

I started doing yoga when I was in high school. Or if you count those at home yoga videos that your mom does, than I’ve been doing it since I was about five. But I didn’t seriously get into it & start to feel & see the benefits of it until I came to college.

I took my first real yoga class (not just using Pinterest for ideas) my freshman year & loved it. I walked out of that first class tired, but so refreshed. I felt like I could conquer the world. And I never wanted to stop feeling that way. It is a kind of high. Yoga high. And I’m kinda addicted.

Now I’m definitely no yoga expert, but you don’t have to be to know that it truly makes a difference in how you feel. And it’s honestly a really good workout. I think some people see it as “too easy”, but trust me, it’s not. But what I love about it is I never feel bad when I can’t hold a certain pose or stretch farther, because it’s a competition with yourself. It feels so good to be in a room full of people who don’t care about what you’re doing because they’re so focused on themselves & improving themselves. 

This summer I got into a routine of doing it nightly & I don’t know if it’s just me thinking I’m awesome, but I feel like I got more toned. And my mindset was definitely calmer. I also have a really hard time falling asleep so doing it right before I go to bed is the best natural way for me to fall asleep.

I’ve tried to get my friends into yoga before by taking them to classes, but they just don’t get into it because it’s “too slow.” And I get it: it’s definitely not as exciting as Zumba or cycling, but it’s a different kind of fun. Sometimes it’s frustrating when I’m not flexible enough or strong enough to do a certain pose, but once you do it for the first time, it’s the best feeling ever. Yoga is about growing as a person & overcoming challenges & a lot of other stuff that will just make you an overall better person lol. So I’m not forcing you to put on your Lulu’s right now, but I’m telling you that it will make you feel so much better. And we all want to feel good right?

Chic of the Week

Happy Friday!

First of all, I am officially done with my first semester of sophomore year! It’s honestly going by so fast & I don’t know how to feel about it. I spent all day yesterday just relaxing & I’m already bored… but I have some fun things planned for this month & I’d rather be bored than have five deadlines!!

This week’s outfit of the week was taken when I was home for Thanksgiving. I paired my LC Lauren Conrad jeans (featured in last week’s Chic of the Week) with a top from Aéropostale that I got when I was probably 12, but it still fits. I put my grey cardigan from Forever21 overtop of it all to make the look more winter-weather appropriate. I’m wearing one of my favorite pair of shoes, my black mules from Forever21.

Finals Week Prep

Guess what week it is? The worst time to be alive for college students – finals week! Whether you have five finals or one, this post is for you: The hard-working, stressed out, so-over-it college student. Here are my tips for surviving finals week:

1.) Location

Studying is never fun, but it can be better if you’re in a relaxing spot. My personal favorite is the library or outside.

2.) Materials

Make sure you have all the books, highlighters & study guides you need! It sucks to get to your study sesh & realize you don’t even have what you need.

3.) Comfy Clothes

I’m talking fuzzy socks, cardigan, leggings, & a bun. Casual, studying-super-hard aesthetic.

4.) Snacks 

Or Starbucks. Or both. I get really hangry & sometimes I need to just keep working & can’t stop to eat so a quick break with a snack can help motivate me to finish.

5.) Music

I listen to my Spotify Coffee Table Jazz & currently, Christmas music! But whatever helps you focus & keeps you relaxed…

Chic of the Week

Happy December!

I’m glad it’s finally considered socially acceptable to watch Christmas movies in front of the tree with hot chocolate because that’s what I’ll be doing all weekend! I have finals next week & should probably study, but I have all of Monday to do that… I’m planning a post for Monday all about how to get through finals week so make sure to check back!

As for my outfit, this is what I wore to Friendsgiving this year. I got the top last year at an end of season sale, but it’s from the LC Lauren Conrad collection. It is so pretty & not too hot, so it’s perfect for this winter!! I paired it with my LC Lauren Conrad jeans & nude booties that I wear with absolutely everything.
