Organization Tips

I am a very organized person. Anyone who knows me will tell you that every drawer in my room is neat & my clothes are color coordinated along with my planner, desk calendar & wall calendar.

Organization obsessed? Maybe, but being organized & clean has always been such a huge help in every aspect of my life. So whether you’re a college student, working adult or just want to get your life together, (we’ve all been there) I’ve come up with some tips & tricks that I use to stay on top of my game… most of the time.

1.) Use planners & calendars

I have a planner for school/clubs/life, plus a separate blog planner… Along with a calendar for my desk & a calendar in my phone. Whatever goes in my planner, is written on my calendar, which transfers to my phone. That way, no matter where I am or what I’m doing, I can stay on top of everything I have to do & ~rarely~ miss an appointment, deadline or party.

2.) Color coordinate

And I don’t mean your closet, unless you want to. Having a different color for each activity, social event, class or club can really help lay out your days. I am a visual person, so seeing all the colors laid out helps me remember what I have to do & when. Not only does it help you stay even more organized, it’s also kinda pretty.

3.) Make a To-Do list every day & prioritize

I briefly mentioned this in my last post Productivity Tips, but creating a top 3 to-do every day is the best way to tackle big projects & little chores.

4.) Do things as soon as they are assigned

Or at least start them. As soon as I receive a homework assignment, I’m on it. Some things will take more than an hour or two to complete, but getting a head start is the best way to avoid last minute due date stress.

5.) Have a routine

Creating a routine & sticking to it is one of the biggest ways I stayed organized. When I have a million things going on it’s easier for me to know the order I’m going to accomplish them in. It also keeps me motivated to finish everything because I know by the end of the day I’ll be able to relax, plan out the next day or get ahead. I know that some people work better going with the flow though, so of course, whatever works for you!

6.) Use sticky notes

I have sticky notes everywhere. When I think of a question or something, I write it down right away so I don’t forget, & then I’ll go back later & write it in my planner or ask.

7.) Organize your space

Whether that be a whole house or a dorm room, having your space clean will help lower stress & keep you organized!

I hope these tips help you guys! I feel like as the seasons change so does my mood & sometimes I become really overwhelmed over little things, so if you’re the same way now is the time to pick up some new habits!
